Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia
Flowing Bay of Fundy When we visited Cape Split on Nova Scotia’s Bay of Fundy, I wondered what all the tide fuss was about. Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia
Cape Breton Highlands National Park What a fabulous road trip to Cape Breton with Evan. We originally thought we might bike the Cabot Trail, the 300km loop around the northern tip of Cape Breton Island…until a local’s advice caused us to reconsider. A good choice indeed! Narrow shoulders, big hills and curves galore. Kudos to those who ride it. There are two distinct camps of opinion as to taking a clockwise vs. counterclockwise route.

Cape Split, Nova Scotia
Hiking Cape Split Marking the end of the North Mountain Range, Cape Split runs between the Bay of Fundy and the Minas Basin. Apparently this headland has been separated from the mainland thanks to the force of the incoming and outgoing tides which are the highest in the world. 600 billion tonnes of water flowing twice a day! A stunning hike with a picnic at the tip. Thanks to Carolyn Mallory and Mark for an amazing day! Even at the time of year there are still wildflowers.

We arrived in Halifax from PEI in time to meet up with Evan and JP for Adam’s birthday dinner. Unbeknownst to Adam, Robyn (from Vancouver) and Alex (from Toronto) snuck into Nova Scotia to surprise him.

Hubbards, Nova Scotia
Hotz's in Hubbards Nova Scotia was a fantastic destination for a full Hotz Family Reunion! We stayed in Hubbards, on a little cove off of St Margaret's Bay. A big clapboard house for all 12 of us (including Shack) was a perfect jumping off point to explore the area. Deep sea fishing, hiking and even a bit of yoga. Our Hubbards home for the week! With a nod to The Friendly Giant, a big chair for two to curl up in. Dinner time in lobster season. Before...
