Korčula
Day two cycling on the island of Korčula. We rode the length of the island and over the mountain. Amazing weather, amazing day.

Today's route.

If we weren't on bikes we might be mistaken for flight attendants in our matching biking kits!
Overlooking the town of Blato.
Lots of these abandoned stone buildings along the road. Perhaps storehouses in their day?
Riding past vineyards.

We finished out lovely ride and managed to get cleaned up before our city tour.
One interesting tidbit about Korčula's Old Town is the street planning. It's unclear who the brilliant urban planners were: the Venetians who ruled the island in 1420, or the local stonemasons, but kudos to whoever it was! The streets on the east and west sides of the town are shaped differently on account of the winds. Here on the eastern side, the streets are curved to block the cold, northeasterly bura wind in the winter from barrelling right through town. On the western side, the street run straight so that the breezy, westerly summer winds blow through and help cool the town down.

How's that for a perfect perch for aperitivo!
Laundry day on the Adonis. Needless to say, everything dried in minutes!

Dinner on our boat as we depart Korčula. Best (and only) seats in the house!
