Write your introduction here.
Thank you Gilly Regev, Florence Lockhart and Liz Bernhard for an amazing week. Vail is everything it’s cracked up to be, and all the better with you three! Hopefully this is the first of many ski trips together.

You know you’ve arrived in a ski town when the oversized luggage pick up is a ski cubby conveyor.

Crazy warm first day, as evidenced by Gilly Regev who is always cold, with bare hands with her jacket open!

Liz Bernhard is definitely in her happy place. How lucky to have the best Vail mountain guide on our team!

Andiamo! Not a fresh flake of snow here for the past two weeks but that’s not going to stop us.

The perfect finish to the day!

Would you believe we went from the bliss of the hot tub to a cold plunge?! A very brave moment for Gilly Regev!

11,250 feet elevation. Yes, the air is thin up here…and I thought my racing heart was from my powerful skiing…

Just like the ski cubbies in the luggage pick up, they really know how to do things right here. First time I’ve seen a helmet tree! Brilliant!

Picnic decks with spectacular views are sprinkled around the mountain. Another winning feature of Vail!

And why wouldn’t they provide BBQs for skiers to cook their own lunch al fresco?

A somber moment during a spectacular day. What a beautiful shrine to those who loved this place.

Our shadow in the midst of earthy patches peaking through. We left home when Whistler hadn’t had any new snow for weeks, expecting buckets of powder in Vail. Wouldn’t you know, the snow came in droves to Whistler as we left. Oh well, it’s a big mountain and we found lots of fabulous skiing!

Like ants chasing honey.

The view is never-ending. What looks like brown patches in the distance is actually Aspens waiting for spring to sprout their leaves.

Vail’s famous Mount of the Holy Cross.Towering at just over 14,000 feet, the intersecting couloirs conveniently shaped like a cross are surely a source of comfort for some skiers before careening down the mountain.

Classic Vail. Why not ride to the gondola in your ski boots with your skis on your shoulder, and stop for a coffee on the way?

The sky on fire is a beautiful send off on our last night.

Another thing Vail does well: heated streets. Needless to say, the snow came the night before our departure. Where some places invest in people and equipment to clear the snow from the sidewalks and streets, here the resources go into ski valets shuttling gear back and forth between lift side ski storage and hotels. Dare I say one can get used to walking in regular footwear to the gondola, putting on heated boots and picking up freshly tuned skis!

We awoke our last morning to 23cm at the top. Liz Bernhard unpacked her gear and raced out for a few runs before our 10am departure! A bit different underfoot from the photo of me in the same spot earlier in this post.

Heading to the airport, we passed at least 25 transport trucks along I-70 pulled over to chain up. Thankfully they take mountains pass safety seriously here!
